Meg finds herself back at her parents' place, where her room has been taken over by the cat, Whispers. While Shirley and John, her parents, are thrilled to have their daughter back, Meg feels a bit overwhelmed by their excessive affection (and the awkward bathroom interruptions). Reluctantly, Meg agrees to go shopping with her mom, Shirley, and handle her cringe-worthy antics. However, when Shirley confronts a cashier, Meg's embarrassment reaches new levels. As Meg realizes that Shirley's behaviour stems from missing her own mother, she gathers the courage to address the cashier and her own fears of confrontation. In the whirlwind of mother-daughter drama, Meg bumps into her old pal Carla. Ironically, Carla's relentless sunshine is like nails on a chalkboard to Meg, for reasons she can't quite put her finger on. Hopefully she doesn’t bump into her again.
